WHAT WE ARE DOING TO MAKE IT SAFE OF YOU TO SHOP IN THE BOOKSHOP:

We ask customers to use the hand sanitizers available at front door. Due to the limited space in the shop we will have to limit to number of customers in the shop to 4 people or a family group. We will monitor the stairs to stop any issues of people coming into the 2 meter personal bubble. We have ad to remove toys and the children’s seats from the middle floor, but they will be back once we are able to return to normal, and the chairs on the top floor.

We are offering a click and collect service on book orders as well as local delivery and posting national though the website, emails and messages via twitter and instagram DMs

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FRONT WINDOWS?

I have been asked by a number of people about the bay window and what happened to them. We were not driven into or broken into last weekend. The glass was removed by builders working on repairing the wooden frames and replacing the glass. This is part of the restoration of the frontage started last year. Hopefully we will have our windows back soon for displays and light downstairs.

PLANS FOR THE SUMMER:

We are not able to have hard plans for events at the moment but would love to bring in local authors, poets, writers, illustrators and artists in to show their works as we have done in the past.

FREE NATIONAL BOOK TOKENS for customers. We have been given 100 free £5 national book e-tokens to give out to customers. And have given out a few already. Pick up a free £5 e-token in shop or message us online. Or pop into the Alston Emporium sweetshop across the road.

Thank you for your support over the last couple of months

hope everyone is well
